Please review the pictures for a further idea of the condition. Measurements are: 46" wide, 22" in depth and 38-1/2". It does work when the straps were in place but I am sure it needs to be tuned. Had new straps made for the pedals, but those have now come off and I have conditioned the wood many times over the years. The only things I have done to this is replace the fabric on the pedals. This belonged to my great grandma and I hate to get rid of it but I do not have the room for it anymore. And also has some pretty carvings, see the pictures below. But the wood itself is in excellent condition. I also do not know what kind of wood this is made of. It does have the number 5525 on the back if that means anything. I have tried to figure out when this was made and have not been successful. Reed Organ Society, Inc.This is an antique pump/reed organ made by Estey Co. Another immediate clue is that the manual compass of 5 octaves runs from C to c - two octaves below and three octaves above middle c. If this is compared with any of the American instruments the much simpler style of case is immediately evident. " The harmonium varies considerably from the American reed-organ. We thus reserve the name “harmonium” for the original French style pressure wind instrument and use the name “reed organ” for everything else." We note however that there are some pressure instruments which cannot be classified as harmoniums (such as certain models of Aeolian Orchestrelle and the Vocalion) and there are also combined suction/ pressure instruments which we have listed as reed organs. The story is that an employee of Debain invented this kind of instrument, was not able to produce it in France and therefore emigrated to seek his fortune. Ian Thompson refers to them as SROs (Suction Reed Organs). They are also often refered to as “pump organs” on all continents.
